About

Hi, my name is Meagan Laskowski. I am a licensed professional counselor with over 10 years of specialized experience in infant, early childhood, child and adolescent mental health. My journey began during my Master’s program at Marquette University, where I built my skills in family mental health at the Behavior Clinic at Penfield Children’s Center, continuing at Children’s Wisconsin as a Child Therapist. Throughout my years I have worked in a variety of settings including in-home, outpatient clinic, and schools. Using my teaching background, I’ve also given several presentations at conferences like the Children Come First Conference and local places in Wauwatosa, Brookfield, and Milwaukee.
I’ve been endorsed by Wisconsin Alliance of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health since June 2024. I’ve been trained in Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP, an attachment and trauma-based therapy for children under 6), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT, a trauma therapy for children ages 3-18), Early Pathways (a parenting strategy based program), Theraplay (attachment-based play therapy), and Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP). I’m currently being trained in DIR Floortime and Somatic Experiencing.
As an Infant Mental Health Endorsed-Clinical therapist, I am dedicated to supporting parents and caregivers through the unique challenges of raising young children. My approach emphasizes the importance of caregiver-child attachment and relationships in healing trauma and fostering emotional well-being. I specialize in working with children and adolescents who have experienced hardships such as the loss of a family member, ongoing stress at home, parent/caregiver separation, adoption and attachment-related trauma, NICU stays, or ongoing medical needs. My practice is grounded in an inclusive, affirming approach that welcomes neurodivergent children and adolescents, LGBTQ+ youth, and their families.
My practice integrates developmental theory, psychodynamic theory, attachment-based therapy, and trauma-focused therapy. I offer a range of therapeutic modalities, from parent-only sessions to dyadic sessions involving both parent and child, fostering emotional regulation and familial healing. Additionally, in some cases, I incorporate therapy dogs to address anxiety and dog phobias, enhancing therapeutic outcomes.
At the core of my practice is creating a non-judgmental and collaborative therapeutic space that prioritizes safety, growth, and positive change. I understand the challenges families face in finding appropriate support, especially with young children, and I am here to provide guidance and support throughout your journey.
